

So please, if you're a newcomer like me and you struggled with the first book and the beginning of the 2nd book (new places, new side characters), keep reading and you will get invested into the story for sure. I've got really really invested into the story now. I'm 100% sure that I will continue reading it and eventually finish every book from it. It took me 25-35% of the 2nd book to change my view of The First Law as a whole. Not gonna lie, I struggled a little with the first book as I'm not a huge fan of character-driven stories, but now that I know every character more "closely", the 2nd book is an absolute gem. They are all beautifully written, but I prefer the storylines of some of the characters more. Around New Year I finished The Blade Itself - I loved Glokta, and even Jezal and basically all of the characters. Currently I'm reading Before They Are Hanged.
